2010 Sailing Program

The program starts June 28th and ends August 20th.

Please note, this year sailing registration is being done on-line. In order to register for the 2010 sailing program, a family must have paid their 2010 membership dues. If you are a member of the Wild Harbor Yacht Club and have not been able to access the on-line membership renewal page, please contact the Registrar, Cathy Rafferty at .

The Sailing Program is offered in three sessions: 8 weeks (June 28 to August 20; and two four week sessions - June 28 to July 23 and July 26 to August 20. Check the schedule grid for the times and days of classes. Registration is on a first come basis. Priority given to members, returning sailors, and their siblings. Class placement will be determined by the Program Director. A current medical form must be on file for each participant in the sailing program which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

Mates
Ages 7 by September 1st to 9, fundamentals of sailing in Hunter 14s and/or Beetle Cats. User fee required if participant's Beetle Cat is not used in the program. Class size will be limited for safety reasons and determined by the Program Director.

Skippers
Ages 10 to 16, novice to intermediate sailing in Hunter 14s and/or Beetle Cats. User fee required if participant's Beetle Cat is not being used in the program. Class size will be limited for safety reasons and determined by the Program Director..

Introduction to Junior Sailing
Ages 13 to 18, novice to intermediate, prepares a sailor for entry into just the enjoyment of sailing or junior racing class, sailing Sunfish, and Hunter 14s. User fee required for sailors not providing a boat. Class size will be limited for safety reason and determined by the Program Director..

Optimist Dinghy

Opti 1
Ages 8 and up, beginner to intermediate, and must provide a boat. Class size will be limited for safety reasons and determined. by the Program Director..

Opti 2
Ages 8 and up, intermediate to advanced , and must provide a boat. Class size will be limited for safety reason and will be determined by the Program Director.

Opti 3
Ages 8 and up, advanced and introduction to racing, and must provide a boat. Class size will be limited for safety reasons and determined by the Program Director.

Opti Racing
Ages 10 to 15, advanced with focus on racing tactics in preparation to participate in the SM Sailing Opti Grand Prix events, and must provide a boat. Coaching fee applies.

Club 420

Club 420-1
Beginning class, prerequisites participated in IJS, Opti 3 or Opti Racing. Goal of the class to gain an understanding of the Club 420 while learning to work as a part of a team (skipper and Crew), must provide a boat. Sailors are expected to participate in the WHYC Saturday Open Series.

Club 420-2
Intermediate class, prepares a sailor in the use of a spinnaker and trapeze and introduces them to team racing and further advancement to Club 420 Racing. Sailors are expected to participate in the WHYC Saturday Open Series and regattas sponsored by the SM Sailing Association.

Club 420 Racing
Advanced working on racing tactics and team racing strategy. Sailors are expected to participate in the SM Sailing Club 420 Grand Prix events. Sailors from this group will be selected to participant in the US Sailing ladder events for the Bemis Trophy as well as for SM Sailing team racing team. Coaching fee applies to both skipper and crew.

Laser Radials
Laser Radial sailors will participate with the various Club 420 classes.

NOTE: The sailing staff determines class placement based on ability and maturity. The coaching fee pays for additional class time and coaching at regattas.
